WisDems Statement on Pete Hegseth’s Visit to Eau Claire

MADISON, Wis. — In response to Pete Hegseth’s visit to Eau Claire today, Democratic Party of Wisconsin spokesperson Haley King released the following statement: 

“It’s no surprise that Pete Hegseth is coming to Wisconsin to try to sell voters on the Trump administration’s cost-raising war that Congressman Tom Tiffany and Derrick Van Orden have rubber-stamped at every opportunity. Gas in Eau Claire now costs over 50% more than it did last year, and families and small businesses feel it everyday through the sky high prices they pay for groceries and gas as a result of the reckless war that Pete Hegseth and MAGA extremists like Derrick Van Orden and Tom Tiffany dragged us into. Pete Hegseth thinks he can waltz into our state, tell people to ignore the reality of their economic struggles and insist this war is in their interests, promise things will get better, and then disappear until the next election. Wisconsinites are sick of theatrics and want real solutions and leaders who will actually put an end to this war—not another round of lip service.”
